WATCH: Ryan Braun Becomes Brewers All-Time Home Run Leader vs. Marlins

USA Today Sports

In 2011, Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun hit a three-run shot against the then Florida Marlins to win the Brewers the NL Central. A lot has happened since that home run, and if we fast forward to today, August 19th, 2015, Ryan Braun came into today’s Marlins-Brewers game with a chance at history once again.

What was at stake this time? The Brewers’ all-time home run record. Braun tied Robin Yount at 251 career home runs with his grand slam on Tuesday versus the Philadelphia Phillies. As he stepped to the plate in the 6th inning versus former teammate Chris Narveson, Braun was able to work the count to 2-1 in his favor, and then do this:

Both Braun and Yount spoke on the milestone.

“Robin is the best player in franchise history”, said Braun. Any time you’re mentioned alongside his name, it’s pretty special.”

“It’s about time we got a guy with some real power on the top of that list”, said Yount, who played all of his 20 Major League years with the Brewers.

Braun is now batting .276 on the season with 22 home runs and 72 runs batted in on the year. He is projected to hit seven more home runs this year.
