Mark Buehrle (Shoulder) Will Make Next Start Tuesday vs. Braves

Toronto Star

Mark Buehrle was the Blue Jays scheduled starter for their Saturday game versus the New York Yankees, which is promising to be one of the biggest series of the Blue Jays season. Instead, the Blue Jays will be starting Marcus Stroman in place of him, while Buehrle will be able to rest his shoulder a few more days.

Buehrle received a cortisone shot for his shoulder on Wednesday in Toronto. “I’ve had them before,” Buehrle said, per the National Post. “Still could’ve pitched on Saturday if need be. Obviously, Stroman’s ready and they want to put him in there, so they pushed me back to Tuesday. I’m for it.”

Buehrle is 14-7 on the year, with a 3.72 earned run average and 80 strikeouts over 174.1 innings this year. It’s a good idea for the Blue Jays not to pitch Buehrle against the Yankees either, as he is 2-14 against them in his career with an earned run average of 6.31, surrendering the long ball a total of 21 times over 22 career starts.
