Yanks’ Drew may Have Concussion

AP

Since he was hit by a ground ball in the face on September 9th, New York Yankees second baseman Stephen Drew has started just three games for the Yankees since the incident, having random spells of dizziness occurring.

The Yankees and manager Joe Girardi are planning on not having Drew available for the remainder of the regular season, and it’s likely he wouldn’t be able to play the American League Wild Card game if that’s what hand the Yankees are dealt in October to get to the World Series.

“We haven’t seen really any improvement for these 10 days,” Girardi said. “I don’t know what’s going to turn it around.”

Dustin Ackley and Rob Refsnyder have been holding down the second base duties in Drew’s absence. Drew is batting .201 on the year with 17 home runs and 44 runs batted in with an on-base percentage of .271.
