Los Angeles Lakers rookie D’Angelo Russell will take on Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Karl-Anthony Towns on Wednesday night, which has been the most made out of the match-up between the two.

One thing that people are forgetting about is Kobe Bryant. Yes, it seems unlikely that in today’s day and age that we can’t associate Kobe Bryant with the Los Angeles Lakers, but this could very well be the last season we see Kobe Bryant in purple and gold.

We already have tons of questions about his health, and Bryant suffered a leg injury in the preseason. The Lakers decided to hold him out of the remainder of the team’s preseason games, but according to Lakers head coach Byron Scott, per ESPN.

“Yeah, I told him if he couldn’t go [Sunday], [Monday] we could start worrying,” Scott said after practice. “He walked out [Sunday], he said it felt good. He gave me a thumbs-up. Went through the scrimmage and everything. You can see a little rust, but other than that, he was moving pretty fluid again. It was just good to see.”

Lakers forward Metta World Peace also spoke on Kobe’s practice session, which of course included someone trying to trash talk him.

“He played well. He was shooting in people’s faces,” World Peace said. “The white team was beating up the purple team. And then somebody decided to talk [trash] to Kobe. That was the wrong thing to do.”

Bryant averaged 22.3 points, 5.6 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game in 35 regular season games during the 2014-2015 season.
