Report: Peyton Manning has Torn Ligament in Right Foot

Peyton Manning broke Brett Favre’s passing yard record on Sunday, but the rest of his Sunday evening wasn’t very pleasant at all.

Manning was benched in favor of his backup, Brock Oswellier after throwing 20 passes and only completely five of them for 36 yards. He also threw four interceptions on the day, and posted a quarterback rating of 0.0. Now, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, we have a possible reason to cite for Manning’s bad performance yesterday.

There is no clear word as to when or how long Manning will be out due to the plantar fascia injury, but Michael David Smith of ProFootballTalk reminded us in 2013 that the NBA’s Pau Gasol missed about six weeks due to the same injury.

If the injury does sideline Manning for about six weeks or so and Owsellier plays well in his absence, it could be very likely that Peyton Manning’s career ended before our very eyes yesterday on a day where he passed Favre on the all-time yards list.
