Lakers HC Byron Scott Wants to Boost D’Angelo Russell’s Minutes

USA Today Sports

Lakers rookie D’Angelo Russell hasn’t been getting minutes like his other fellow rookies have so far this season, especially in the 4th quarter of the Lakers games.

Russell has not played a single minute in five of the Lakers 13 games this season, and in the eight games that he’s played in the 4th quarter, he’s taken a total of 27 shots. This has lead to questions about how much confidence Lakers head coach Byron Scott truly has in the second overall pick.

Scott addressed his minute distribution with Russell, adding that he would like to play him more, but he’s going to need to earn it first.

Russell is averaging 14.3 points, 6 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game over the Lakers last three contests. He is averaging 10.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.9 assists overall on the year.
