Brewers Sign Will Middlebrooks to Minor-League Deal

Will Middlebrooks was non-tendered by the San Diego Padres earlier this month after a poor 2015 season where he slashed a weak .212/.241/.361 with just 9 home runs and 29 runs batted in over 200 at-bats for the Padres.

Middlebrooks only appeared in 83 games in the Majors last year while he spent 38 games in Triple-A, which lead the Padres to decide he wasn’t worth the spot on their roster anymore, but the Milwaukee Brewers are taking a chance on him to keep their rebuilding process going:

Not a bad move for the Brewers considering Middlebrooks is still only 27-years-old and can turn his career around with less pressure on him to succeed.

Middlebrooks will likely be competing with former Red Sox top prospect Garin Cecchini for a chance to be the Brewers Opening Day starter.
