Report: Five Teams Interested in RHP Mat Latos

Free agent right-handed pitcher Mat Latos had himself a 2015 to forget to say the least.

The now 28-year-old Latos went 4-10 on the year split between three different MLB teams, posting a 4.95 earned run average and just 100 strikeouts over 116.1 innings of work.

Latos began 2015 as a member of the Marlins after the team traded for him over the 2014 off-season, and then was part of a massive trade in July that ended up with Latos going to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers then cut Latos on September 26th after he posted a 6.66 ERA over 6 games with them.

Three days after the 26th, another Los Angeles team, the Angels decided to see if Latos could help them in a late playoff push on a cheap deal. The Angels didn’t get much that was positive out of Latos as well, as he posted a 4.91 ERA in just two games for the team, and here is now back on the market looking for a new team with five teams reportedly interested in him:

The good news for Latos is he can find a fit with any five of those teams on the list. The Pirates have a well known reputation for having at knack at fixing up pitchers, and the Royals can help groove him into their championship pedigree.

The Rays and the Brewers could use Latos in hopes that he can regain his old form in their rebuilds, and the Orioles can use him to strengthen their depth at the pitching spot.
