Report: Brewers Remain Active in Jonathan Lucroy Trade Talks

US-Presswire

The Milwaukee Brewers have been one of the most active teams throughout this MLB off-season.

The Brewers, who began to rebuild during the 2015 season, have done pretty much everything from filling coaching vacancies to signing players to minor league deals.

Most notably for the Brewers, they have moved around their most veteran players that made it through the 2015 season. Francisco Rodriguez, Luis Sardinas, Adam Lind, and Jason Rogers are some of the players that have been moved, and former all-star catcher Jonathan Lucroy could be next, per Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal:

The Brewers remain involved in ongoing trade conversations about catcher Jonathan Lucroy, sources say. Makes sense — they might be better off trading Lucroy before Opening Day than waiting until the July 31 nonwaiver deadline or next offseason, when he will be only a year away from agency.

Lucroy, 29, is not at the peak of his value — he is coming off a subpar offensive season that included a six-week absence due to a broken left toe. He also did not catch after Sept. 8 due to a concussion, a concern that almost certainly would give interested clubs pause.

Lucroy slashed .264/.326/.391 with 7 home runs and 43 runs batted in over the course of just 103 games in 2015.
