Billy Hamilton’s Shoulder is Not Yet 100%

USA Today Sports

Cincinnati Reds speedster Billy Hamilton underwent surgery on September 25th of last year on his shoulder, causing him to miss the remainder of the 2015 season, which wasn’t a very good one for Hamilton.

Hamilton slashed a weak .226/.274/.289 with just 4 home runs and 28 runs batted in over 114 games in 2015. Hamilton is of course known for his speed. He stole a career high 57 bases last year despite a terrible on-base percentage, but his contact will need to improve greatly if he has hopes about staying in the Majors.

Hamilton’s 2016 will depend on the health of his surgically repaired shoulder, and per Reds reporter Mark Sheldon, Hamilton will be ready for Reds Spring Training, despite his shoulder not being all the way 100% ready to go yet:

Hamilton was a career .280 hitter during his six years in the Minors, so the potential to find his stroke at the plate remains.
