Ryan Braun Behind in Rehab From Off-Season Back Surgery

USA Today Sports

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun underwent back surgery at the end of October with the hope that he will be 100% by the time the Brewers begin Spring Training.

It doesn’t look like that will be happening now, per Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

The good news here is that the Brewers already planned to limit Braun in Spring Training already, and he hasn’t suffered any setbacks as of yet.

Braun, who turned 32 in November, hit .285/.356/.498 with 25 home runs, 84 runs batted in, and 24 stolen bases, giving Braun yet another 20 home run 20 stolen base season in his storied Major League Career.

“I just got cleared to do rotational exercises about two weeks ago, so just started swinging a bat literally this last week, but so far so good,” said Braun. “I usually don’t start hitting until January, so I’m literally a couple weeks behind where I’d usually be. But overall I’m definitely encouraged by where I’m at.

Braun’s 140 games played out of 162 were a season high from him post-2012. Braun was hitting a putrid .222/.271/.389 on May 5th, so the way he finished 2015 was very encouraging to the Brewers and their fans.
