Bulls G Jimmy Butler Out 3-4 Weeks With Knee Injury

USA Today Sports

The Chicago Bulls are hanging on for dear life right now with all their injuries, and today’s news regarding guard Jimmy Butler hasn’t helped them.

Butler, who suffered a knee strain during the Bulls loss to the Nuggets on Friday, will miss 3-4 weeks with the injury, also meaning that he won’t play in the NBA All-Star Game this week.

The Bulls were hopeful after a few days that Butler would be able to return soon, but more tests today revealed that the injury was worse than they originally thought.

The Bulls released this following press release regarding the injury:

Bulls guard/forward Jimmy Butler was re-examined by Bulls Head Team Physician Brian Cole.  Butler is expected to miss the next three to four weeks with a strained left knee.

Butler has begun rehabbing his injury and he will be allowed to engage in all activities as tolerated with the primary goal of maintaining his conditioning over the ensuing weeks.

As a result of this injury, Butler will not play in the NBA All-Star Game this Sunday in Toronto.  Butler was selected as a reserve to the East squad by the Eastern Conference head coaches.  He originally suffered the injury in the second quarter of Friday night’s game at Denver.

If you take a look at the Bulls injury report now, it is looking pretty bad.

Butler joins Derrick Rose, Nikola Mirotic, Joakim Noah, and others on the injury report, meaning that three members of the Bulls starting lineup are all out right now, and Mirotic is a key part to the Bulls bench and shooting from three.

Butler is averaging 22.4 points, 4.3 assists, and 5.2 rebounds per game.
