Knicks Shopping Veteran Guard Jose Calderon

Jose Calderon‘s three-point shooting came to him when he arrived to New York last season, but his health and the rest of his game didn’t, leading to him being used as a punching bag for the Knicks fan base.

Calderon’s decline is part of the reason why Knicks president Phil Jackson is shopping him, per ESPN’s Marc Stein:

The Knicks, who also strongly covet [Jeff] Teague in their search for a frontline point guard, are trying their best to get a team interested in Jose Calderon and the $7.7 million owed to the Spaniard next season. Sources say New York is talking up Calderon’s leadership qualities and, in some cases, offering to include big man Kyle O’Quinn to sweeten proposals.

The likely solution for the Knicks here is to just give up Calderon for a protected second round pick, because most teams that need shooting won’t given anything significant considering his salary.

Calderon is averaging 7.5 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.1 rebounds per game this season.
