Cubs Sign Manny Parra to Minor League Contract

Manny Parra will be continuing his goal of playing for every team in the National League Central, as according to Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Cubs and Parra have agreed to a Minor League deal.

Parra, who turned 33 in October, had a 3.90 earned run average over 40 appearances for the Cincinnati Reds in 2015, going 1-2 while striking out 23 batters over 32.1 innings of work. Parra will likely compete for a left-handed role in the Cubs bullpen this spring, along with Clayton Richard, Rex Brothers, and Travis Wood.

Parra is an eight-year veteran pitcher who spent his first five seasons with the Brewers and the last three with the Reds. He has a lifetime win-loss record of 29-41 with a 4.90 earned run average. Parra was a starter with the Brewers until he was moved regularly to the bullpen by the team in 2012.
