Report: Heat Officials Urging Chris Bosh to Miss Remainder of Season

USA Today Sports

Chris Bosh is hopeful again to play this year for the Miami Heat, but according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, Heat officials are urging Bosh to sit out the remainder of the 2015-2016 campaign.

From Wojnarowski:

Miami Heat All-Star forward Chris Bosh is under increasing pressure from physicians and the organization to sit out the rest of the season because of the potential dangers of a recurring medical condition, league sources told The Vertical.

If Bosh is determined to be out for the season, his prospective return to basketball would be re-evaluated again in three to six months, sources said.

Bosh reportedly has a blood clot in his calf that was discovered during All-Star Weekend, placing Bosh on the sidelines indefinitely. Teammate Dwyane Wade told the media yesterday that Bosh is still around the team despite his health, shooting jumpers and watching film with the young guys.

Bosh reportedly has a meeting with Heat president Pat Riley and Heat owner Mickey Arison that will determine his status for the remainder of the season within the next 24 hours, also according to Wojnarowski.

The 11-time all-star Bosh last appeared in a game for the Heat on February 9th. Miami’s played three games without their skilled big after Bosh didn’t miss a game prior to the all-star break.

Bosh has reportedly been taking blood thinners to try to get back on the court this year, but there isn’t much improvement yet.

Bosh turns 32 in March. He is averaging 19.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game for Miami this year. Josh McRoberts, Luol Deng, Udonis Haslem, and Goran Dragic have all stepped up in Bosh’s absence.
