Eagles to Trade Byron Maxwell and Kiko Alonso to Dolphins

USA Today Sports

Two of Chip Kelly’s off-season acquisitions from a year ago appear to be on the way out, as the Philadelphia Eagles will reportedly trade cornerback Byron Maxwell and linebacker Kiko Alonso the Miami Dolphins.

With Ian Rapoport noting that the deal will be official once both players pass their physicals, the Eagles are set to receive a draft pick compensation from Miami, but it is unknown what the picks will be or pick if it ends up only being one draft pick.

Maxwell, who signed a six-year $63 million contract with the Eagles last off-season, picked off two passes and recorded 64 tackles for the Eagles in 14 games. Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald is reporting that the Dolphins are looking to restructure that contract Maxwell signed last spring.

The other player in the trade in Kiko Alonso will turn 26 this summer. He was limited to 11 games this year due to injuries. He had 43 total tackles to go with one interception.

The Eagles have been very active on the market already this off-season. They have already locked up quarterback Sam Bradford for the next two years, and more moves are expected to come after a disaster 2015 season.
