Report: Dolphins Won’t Rush Deal With RB Arian Foster

USA Today Sports

Ex-Texans running back Arian Foster will be meeting with the Miami Dolphins later today, and the Dolphins are in desperate need of a running back after Lamar Miller left for the Houston Texans and they missed out on C.J. Anderson.

Missing out on Miller and Anderson meant that Miami had to turn their attention elsewhere, and with the way free agency has played out for the Dolphins, many think that the Dolphins will try to sign Foster as soon as they possibly can.

Per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins won’t rush a deal with the veteran running back:

The Dolphins are bringing in running back Arian Foster on Tuesday, but a league source cautioned that unlike the case with guard Kraig Urbik last week, Miami isn’t going into this with the intention of signing him immediately.

The Dolphins want to check him out medically five months after he sustained a ruptured Achilles’ in a game against them. They also want to establish a relationship. They are interested but they don’t go into this 100 percent certain that they want to sign him.

If they’re thrilled with the medicals and the player, it’s conceivable they could move quickly. But they don’t go into this meeting planning to do that.

Foster carried the ball only 63 times last year for 163 rushing yards and one touchdown as he was limited to just four games in 2015. The 29-year-old Foster is a four-time Pro Bowler.
