There was hope around the Miami Heat organization that star forward Chris Bosh would return to the team to help them make a playoff run, but according to Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press, that won’t be happening:

Bosh missed the Heat’s final 29 regular season games after pulling out of the NBA’s All-Star Weekend festivities due to a blood clot in his calf. During Bosh’s absence the Heat posted a record of 19-10 while signing Joe Johnson, Briante Weber, and Dorell Wright.

In Bosh’s absence, Heat guard Dwyane Wade averaged 19.7 points per game on 45% shooting from the field to go with 4.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. Goran Dragic has also raised his game to the level he showed with the Phoenix Suns. The 29-year-old Dragic is averaging 17.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 6.7 assists since the all-star break.

The signing of Joe Johnson has really saved the Heat when you try to break down why the Heat have been successful without Bosh. “Cool Joe” as they call him, is averaging 13.4 points per game with the Heat in 24 games. The rise of rookie Josh Richardson has also be instrumental due to his 10.2 points per game average since the break.

In 53 games for the Heat this year, Bosh averaged 19.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
