The Angels have yet to confirm the deal that will feature up to $1.7 million in incentives, but the deal is expected to be official today. When the deal is confirmed, the Angels are likely going to send Lincecum to Triple-A Salt Lake before making the team’s 25-man roster.

The 31-year-old Lincecum is coming off of hip surgery and has a 4.68 earned run average since the 2012 season due to health problems and issues with his velocity. Lincecum held a showcase on May 6th that was open to all MLB teams, and the Angels were the most interested alongside the White Sox and Lincecum’s former team the Giants.

This could turn out to be a low risk high reward situation for the Angels, but the Angels will need Lincecum to be on the high reward side with an injury plagued pitching staff that has Garrett RichardsAndrew HeaneyTyler Skaggs, and C.J. Wilson all sidelined with injuries.
