Phillies Promote Top Prospect J.P. Crawford to Triple-A Lehigh Valley

MLB

According to MLB.com, the Philadelphia Philies’ number one prospect and third best prospect in baseball is shortstop J.P. Crawford, who batted .288/.380/.414 with 6 home runs and 43 runs batted in between Advanced-A ball and Double-A season.

The .288 batting average was Crawford’s highest mark in the minors since 2013. His .265/.398/.390 with 3 home runs and 13 runs batted in at Double-A Reading is the reason why the Philadelphia Phillies have promoted him to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Crawford, who was promoted to Double-A Reading last season, appeared in 122 games for the Fightins. In 322 career minor league games, Crawford has walked more times than he’s been sent down on strikes, with a 190-188 ratio.

With Crawford’s promotion to Triple-A, 5 of the Phillies top ten prospects are now with Lehigh Valley. Crawford joins Mark Appel, Jake Thompson, Nick Williams, and Andrew Knapp on the road to the show.

“We see that he’s doing things the right way; he’s progressing the right way,” Double-A Reading manager Dusty Wathan said. “We’re really happy with what’s going on. He’s a young player, one of the youngest guys in this league. And he’s playing great.”
