Every year there are players in Major League Baseball that fail to live up to the expectations, and it’s especially noteworthy when the player was a big off-season acquisition by a team.

Here’s a look at the ten MLB pitchers off to disappointing starts so far in 2016:

10: Zack Greinke, Arizona Diamondbacks

The Arizona Diamondbacks surprised us all when they landed the best pitcher on the market last winter in Zack Greinke in 330 minutes on a six-year $206 million deal, and it was also surprising how Greinke started out the 2016 campaign for the D-Backs.

After finishing the runner up to Chicago Cubs star Jake Arrieta in the National League’s Cy Young Award voting last season, Greinke’s first start with Arizona was rocky against the Rockies. (no pun intended)

Greinke lasted just 4 innings, giving up 7 earned runs and three home runs in the Diamondbacks’ 10-5 loss. Greinke proceeded to finish April with a 5.50 earned run average, and so far in May the 32-year-old Greinke has posted a 3.33 earned run average.

‘Zack Attack’ now sits at 5-3 on the season with a 4.59 earned run average and 58 strikeouts over 64.2 innings of work. It appears that Greinke is now hitting his stride, but the right-hander has still put up disappointing numbers to this point.
