The NBA has assessed Golden State Warriors power forward Draymond Green a flagrant one foul for his actions in game four of the NBA Finals, suspending him for game five of the NBA Finals.

Green was assessed the flagrant foul as a result of hitting LeBron James in the groin after James stepped over Green with three minutes left in the game. James turned around to Green, meeting him face-to-face, and the two then exchange some words.

“Being a guy with pride, a guy with 3 kids and a family, some things just go overboard, and that’s where he took it”, James said of the incident that occurred with Green.

This flagrant foul was Green’s fourth of the NBA Playoffs, resulting in an automatic suspension. Green is also two technical fouls away from another suspension if the Cavaliers are able to force game six of the Finals tomorrow night in Oakland.

The Warriors will be without Green for the second time this season. He missed one game in the regular season, which was a 112-110 loss to the Denver Nuggets all the way back on January 13th.

James was asked earlier today what he was intending to do when he stepped over Green during the game on Friday night.

“I was just trying to get back into the play. I think what had happened (with Green) was intentional,” James said. “I knew we got into a grapple at the top of the key, but me just trying to get back into the play.”

Under the NBA’s official rules, Green cannot be in the arena during the duration of the game due to his suspension. If the Warriors win game five, Green is allowed to enter the arena to celebrate with his teammates. He will lose one game check, costing him $140,000.

Green is averaging 14.8 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 5.8 assists in the NBA Finals after averaging 14 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 7.4 assists in 79 regular season games.
