Chargers Finally Sign 3rd Overall Pick Joey Bosa

USA Today Sports

At long last, the Joey Bosa saga is over.

The number three overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft agreed to terms on a four-year, $25.8 million contract with the San Diego Chargers on Monday.

Bosa will receive a $17 million signing bonus in the contract, with his entire contract being fully guaranteed.

During his college career at Ohio State, Bosa established himself as a lethal pass rusher and an impact run stopper. Over his last two seasons at OSU, Bosa had the most tackles for loss in the FBS with 37 total tackles.  In his three college seasons, Bosa racked up 26 sacks and 148 tackles.

“We look forward to having Joey join us and getting him prepared as quickly as possible for the 2016 season,” said Chargers General Manager Tom Telesco in an official statement released by the team.

Bosa will not play in San Diego’s final pre-season game versus the San Francisco 49ers, but the hope is that Bosa will be ready to play for the Chargers’ first regular season game versus the Kansas City Chiefs.

The 21-year-old Bosa is still currently listed as a fourth stringer on San Diego’s depth chart, but will move up without doubt after this week.
