VIDEO: Brewers CF Keon Broxton Robs Cubs’ Anthony Rizzo of Game-Tying HR

What a play this was.

Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo blasted a ball in the 9th inning that looked like a game-tying homer versus Milwaukee Brewers closer Tyler Thornburg to tie the game at two, but Brewers center field Keon Broxton had other plans.

As the ball was set to the clear the fence, Broxton leaped up and robbed it, saving the game for the Brewers:

Broxton traveled a Statcast estimated 89.9 feet to rob Rizzo of the homer. The ball was hit 390 feet in the air, while Broxton’s maximum speed tracking the fly ball was 15.8 miles per hour.

If that ball would’ve cleared the fences for Rizzo, it would’ve been his second homer of the night after hitting one off Matt Garza earlier in the game to tie it at 1. Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Jonathan Villar had his first career-multi homer game that accounted for Milwaukee’s two runs.

Rizzo is now batting .295/.390/.557 with 29 homers and 37 RBIs on the year, while Broxton is now batting .235/.351/.402 with 6 homers, 16 RBIs, and 21 stolen bases.
