The highly touted combo guard, who is ranked 25th on ESPN’s Top 60 list for the 2018 recruiting class, was impressed by Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard and the fan base at Wisconsin. Herro attended Wisconsin’s football game against LSU, and was embraced by the fan base there.

Herro explained his commitment to Wisconsin in further detail, per Jeff Potrykus of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

“They have been to two Final Fours the last few years, and I don’t think our expectations should be any less than that,” Herro said by phone Monday afternoon. “I think that is everyone’s goal growing up and that is Coach Gard’s goal and the staff’s goal, to win a national title.

“They told me committing there is a huge deal in what they are trying to do.”

Wisconsin has three players highly regarded committed to them in their 2017 class in Nathan Reuvers, Kobe King, and Brad Davison.

Joey Hauser, who ranks 36th on the same list that Herro’s on, is likely to go to either Marquette or Wisconsin, with Marquette having the pretty fair advantage. Herro says he will do everything he can to try to convince Hauser to commit to Wisconsin.

As a Sophomore at Whitnall High School in Greenfield, Wisconsin, Herro averaged 24 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game. He has an all-around scoring ability, according to those who watch him closely.
