Cowboys Place OL La’El Collins (Foot) on Injured Reserve

USA Today Sports

Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman La’El Collins will be placed on injured reserve after suffering a torn ligament in his foot, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Collins is scheduled to miss 6-10 weeks with the ligament tear, leaving a possible return from injured reserve in the cards. Teams are allowed to activate one player per season from injured reserve that is deemed healthy and ready to return after at least eight weeks.

Collins, who went un-drafted in the 2015 draft due to controversy surrounding him, started 11 games at left guard for the Cowboys in 2015 and had started all three games this year.

Ronald Leary is expected to replace Collins at the left guard spot. Leary is one of the more accomplished back-ups in the NFL. He started four games at left guard last season, and had 31 starts at the spot from 2013-2014.
