VIDEO: Edwin Encarnacion Launches Walk-Off HR to Send Blue Jays to ALDS

Toronto Blue Jays star Edwin Encarnacion is the most celebrated man in Toronto right now.

Encarnacion blasted a three-run homer in the 11th inning off of Baltimore Orioles pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez to send the Blue Jays back to the American League Division Series for the second straight year against the American League’s top team the Texas Rangers.

“It was a very special moment and a very special opportunity,” Encarnacion said after the game through a Blue Jays team translator.

Jimenez’s first offering to Encarnacion was a 91 mile per hour fastball, and Encarnacion redirected it an estimated 443 feet. Encarnacion also told reporters following the game that he was indeed looking for a fastball.

“I was looking for a fastball and I was trying to put the barrel on it, get a little bit in front because the infield was playing in, and I actually got it,” Encarnacion said through a translator.

He most certainly was able to land his pitch:

That was Encarnacion’s 2nd career playoff homer. Last year in the American League Division Series, Encarnacion batted .333/.478/.556 with his other playoff homer and 3 RBIs.

The 33-year-old Encarnacion, who will be 34 this winter, batted .263/.357/.529 with 42 homers and 127 RBIs in 160 regular season games. Him and Jose Bautista, who also homered last night, are set to become free agents this off-season.
