Bears Place WR Kevin White (Fibula) on Injured Reserve

Chicago Bears wide receiver Kevin White is headed to injured reserve after suffering a fractured left fibula and a high ankle sprain in Chicago’s 17-14 win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

The second-year wide receiver and former first round pick from West Virginia missed all of his rookie season in 2015 after sustaining a stress fracture in his left shin while participating in Bears organizing activities. White was in the midst of his best professional game to date before the injury hit.

Bears general manager Ryan Pace said it has not yet been determined if White will undergo surgery or not to repair the fracture, but he is eligible to return after eight weeks if he is deemed healthy enough by the team. Chicago recently also recently just placed 2014 1st round pick cornerback Kyle Fuller on injured reserve.

Eddie Royal will be relied upon more in the Bears offense now with the injury to white, while star wide receiver Alshon Jeffrey will be targeted even more now. Tight end Zach Miller is also likely to help feel the void for the Bears, who are starting Brian Hoyer at quarterback due to Jay Cutler‘s thumb injury.

White has 19 catches for 187 yards and no touchdowns this season.
