Rams RB Todd Gurley Working on Receiving Skills

While the projection is inflated due to the earliness of the NFL season, Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley is on pace to have 864 rushing yards on 328 attempts on the ground.

Let’s just say that is not a good ratio.

The 22-year-old Gurley has struggled so far in his sophomore NFL season on the ground, which is why he is turning towards the receiving game to help provide offense for the Rams while he waits on his rushing game to return to his rookie season form.

Per Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times, Gurley requests extra pass routes with Rams quarterbacks Case Keenum, Jared Goff, and Sean Mannion. He also catches several passes shot out of a machine for even more extra practice for extended periods of time.

“Man, I only caught like three balls and I guess I’m the best receiver now,” he said, laughing, when asked Friday about his progress as a receiver. “Showing you can be a threat somewhere else, I think, that definitely can help us out a lot.”
