Bills RB LeSean McCoy Battling a Hamstring Strain

Running back LeSean McCoy left the Buffalo Bills’ practice early today due to what Bills head coach Rex Ryan described as “tight hamstring.”

“He was tight in the hamstring so we’ll see what happens with our medical evaluation and all that,” Ryan said of his main running back.

McCoy was evaluated by the team’s medical staff following practice, and a source reportedly told Sal Capaccio of WGR 550 in Buffalo that McCoy sustained a ‘mild to moderate hamstring strain.’

From Capaccio’s article:

A source with knowledge of the situation says Bills running back LeSean McCoy suffered a “mild to moderate” hamstring strain Wednesday at practice and that the team is still hoping to have him available Sunday at Miami, but his status will most likely remain uncertain for at least the next couple of days.

Several of McCoy’s Buffalo teammates did not realize that he left practice early due to the strain when they were asked by reporters following the session.

“I realized that his reps were limited in practice, but I didn’t really notice he was gone,” said Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor.

If McCoy is unable to suit up for the Bills’ contest against one of the worst rushing defenses in the NFL in the Miami Dolphins run defense, Mike Gillislee and Reggie Bush will get a bigger role in the Bills offense, at least temporarily speaking.

The 28-year-old McCoy ranks 2nd in the NFL with 587 rushing yards through six weeks. He has rushed the ball for 104 times, which has netted him 7 total touchdowns.
