The Chicago Cubs have officially added outfielder/catcher Kyle Schwarber to their 25-man roster for the World Series following his rehab assignment in the Arizona Fall League.

The 23-year-old Schwarber, who had been out since the 3rd game of the season after suffering two ligament tears in his left knee after an outfield collision with teammate Dexter Fowler, is expected to serve as Chicago’s designated hitter during the World Series.

Schwarber was cleared for baseball activities on October 17, and appeared to show no discomfort in his rehab will wearing a knee brace. He reportedly arrived to the Cubs team hotel late on Monday night in Cleveland.

In order to make room for Schwarber on the roster, the Cubs have removed Rob Zastryzyny from their postseason roster.

Schwarber batted .246/.355/.487 with 16 homers and 43 RBIs in 69 regular season games for the Cubs in 2015. He is already the Cubs’ all-time franchise leader for the most playoff homers.
