Report: Dodgers “Increasingly Confident” They’ll Re-Sign Justin Turner

Stephen Dunn

The Los Angeles Dodgers are “increasingly confident” that they will re-sign third baseman Justin Turner, reports Buster Olney of ESPN. The two sides have been talking a four-year contract recently.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports is reporting that the Dodgers have an offer on the table for Turner, and are awaiting his decision. Turner’s representatives and the Dodgers are “hopeful” that a deal will be reach today.

The St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants are among the teams that have expressed interest in Turner this winter, but both teams have already made a big splash in free agency with the Cardinals signing Dexter Fowler, and the Giants signing Mark Melancon.

Turner, who recently turned 32, batted .275/.339/.493 with 27 homers, 34 doubles, and 90 RBIs across 151 regular season games for Los Angeles, while posting a .971 OPS in the playoffs that featured 2 homers and 8 RBIs in the postseason.

If the two sides agree on a deal, Turner will re-join a Dodgers lineup that features Corey Seager, Yasmani Grandal, Yasiel Puig, Adrian Gonzalez, and others.
