Isaiah Thomas Scores Career-High 52 Points vs. Heat

Boston Celtics star Isaiah Thomas couldn’t miss a shot on Friday night against the Miami Heat, particularly in the 4th quarter of Boston’s 117-114 win.

Thomas scored a career-high 52 points in the contest, which included 29 points in the 4th quarter alone, the new Celtics record for the most points in a quarter by one player.

Overall, Thomas shot 15-26 from the field in the game, and half of those shots were three-pointers, which Thomas made 9 of, while going perfect from the free throw line in 13 attempts.

“It doesn’t seem real. It’s crazy,” Thomas said following the Celtics’ 20th win of the season. “The fourth quarter, I’ve never done that before.”

Only 4 Celtics players prior to Thomas’ 52-point eruption had scored 50 or more points in a game in the Celtics’ storied franchise history. Those four players are Sam Jones, Kevin McHale, Paul Pierce, and Larry Bird.

Thomas, who is listed as 5’9 on NBA.com, also became the first player since Damon Stoudamire to score 50 points in a game while being listed as under 6 feet tall. Stoudamire scored 54 points against the New Orleans Hornets (Pelicans) on January 14, 2005.

The 27-year-old Thomas is now averaging 27.7 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game this season. He has had 9 straight games since returning from injury with 20 or more points.
