VIDEO: Randall Cobb Catches Three Touchdowns in Playoff Win

Jeff Hanisch/USA TODAY Sports)

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb missed the Packers’ final two regular season games due to an ankle injury, but you wouldn’t have guessed that based on his performance on Sunday.

In Green Bay’s 38-13 playoff win over the New York Giants, Cobb caught five passes for 116 yards, reaching the end zone on three separate occasions. One of Cobb’s three touchdowns came right before halftime on a 42-yard Hail Mary pass from Aaron Rodgers.

With the three-touchdown performance in his return game, Cobb is now tied with 16 other players for the most receiving touchdowns in a single playoff game, and he is the first player to have three in a game since Rob Gronkowski did so in 2012.

Sterling Sharpe, who spent his entire career with the Packers, also caught three touchdowns in a playoff game. That occurred on January 8, 1994 against the Detroit Lions.

Green Bay’s best wide receiver in Jordy Nelson exited the game with a rib injury and did not return, meaning that Cobb, Davante Adams, and Geronimo Allison all had to step in and help match Nelson’s product between each other.

The 26-year-old Cobb finished the regular season with 60 catches for 610 yards and 4 touchdowns.
