Kings Agree to Trade DeMarcus Cousins to Pelicans

The Sacramento Kings have agreed to trade star center DeMarcus Cousins to the New Orleans Pelicans, league sources tell Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

Rookie shooting guard Buddy Hield is expected to be included in the deal, as well as the Pelicans 2017 first round pick, per Wojnarowski. Guard/forward Tyreke Evans and a 2017 second-round pick will also be headed to the Kings in the deal.

Guard Langston Galloway will be also traded to the Kings in the deal, but the Kings are expected to waive Galloway upon acquiring him. The Pelicans will also receive help on the wing in this trade by landing Omri Casspi in-addition to Cousins.

Wojnarowski reported earlier today that the Kings had re-opened trade talks with teams regarding Cousins due to concerns within Sacramento’s ownership and management about Cousins’ behavioral issues. Cousins has already been suspended one game by the NBA this season for picking up 16 technical fouls.

New Orleans now has a front court pairing of Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins to build on for the future, as they are expected to be aggressive in free agency this summer.

This story will be updated/revised when the details become clearer.
