After playing just 53 minutes at the University of Missouri for the Missouri Tigers, Michael Porter Jr. is making the decision to take his talents to the professional level.

Porter Jr. announced via Instagram on Monday his intentions to enter the 2018 NBA Draft after talking things over with family members and coaches.

The 19-year-old Porter Jr. was limited to just those 53 minutes because of a back injury. He played just two minutes in Missouri’s season opener, and many speculated that Porter Jr. wouldn’t play again this season following the surgery.

He did of course comeback for two games, and he looked fairly rusty in both, as he struggled shooting from the field, going 9-29 combined in the two games (31%). Porter was able to show off his rebounds skills by averaging 9.0 rebounds across the two games, and didn’t have a turnover against the Georgia Bulldogs in a SEC Tournament Game that Missouri lost by two in.

Many expect Porter Jr. to still be a top pick in June’s draft despite missing all so much time with a major surgery. He is likely till still be a top-10 pick, while many speculate that he could even find himself back in the top five if everything checks out medically. He was considered by many to be the favorite for the top overall pick entering the 2017-2018 college season, but that honor will likely go to DeAndre Ayton or Luka Doncic now.

Porter Jr. was named the MVP of the 2017 McDonald’s All-American Game.
