Giannis Antetokounmpo Out Saturday Night vs. Knicks

Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo will not play against the New York Knicks tonight due to a sprained right ankle, per the team’s official injury report.

The injury report also lists that Matthew Dellavedova and Shabazz Muhammad will also not play tonight due to the same injury, while guard Malcolm Brogdon will be out once again with a quadriceps injury, but the 2016-2017 NBA Rookie of the Year figures to be close to playing soon. When Brogdon plays, it’ll be his first game since February 1st.

Antetokounmpo last missed a game on March 23rd against the Chicago Bulls, which was also because of this same ankle issue. Milwaukee was able to win that game by 13 without the services of their MVP candidate, and we could potentially see a similar lineup without Antetokounmpo once again tonight.

Jabari Parker was inserted into the starting lineup for the first time all season when Atetokounmpo was sidelined, as he joined Khris Middleton and John Henson in the frontcourt. Eric Bledsoe and Sterling Brown made up the backcourt that game, but either Tony Snell or Jason Terry will start at shooting guard with Brown also ruled out tonight due to personal reasons.

It’s likely that Antetokounmpo will suit up for the Bucks’ next game on Monday versus the Orlando Magic, as it makes sense for the team to provide Antetokounmpo with a chance to earn some extra rest with a playoff birth already clinched for the second consecutive season.

The 23-year-old Antetokounmpo is averaging 27.1 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game this season.
