The St. Louis Cardinals pitching staff has taken a big hit, and that hit may hurt them big time. Adam Wainwright, who has been the Cardinals’ ace for so many years is likely done for the season with an Achilles injury. Wainwright suffered the injury in the Cardinals 5-3 win over the Brewers Saturday night after Wainwright came stumbling out of the batter’s box.
Sources: Expectation is that #STLCards’ Wainwright is done for season with Achilles injury. Has not yet undergone MRI.

The Cardinals won the World Series without Wainwright in 2011 due to Tommy John Surgery, after beating the Phillies and the National League Central division champions that year the Brewers to reach the World Series that year. A tear of the Achilles or a rupture of it would end Wainwright’s season, even in the early stages of the 2015 campaign.
