Tampa Bay Lightning goalie Ben Bishop is set to miss 3-4 weeks with a lower-body injury, the team confirmed earlier today.
The injury was sustained by Bishop in the first period of the Lightning’s 4-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night after Bishop saved a goal by stretching out his leg.
Andrei Vasilevskiy will serve as the main goalie for the Lighting in the absence of Bishop. Vasilevskiy has posted a 92% save rate this year along with two shutouts in 12 starts this season. Kristers Gudlevskis has been recalled from the Syracuse Crunch to back-up Vasilevskiy.
The 30-year-old Bishop can be added to the long list of Lightning injuries that have happened so far this season. The team is missing captain Steven Stamkos, in-addition to Ryan Callahan, Ondrej Palat, Nikita Kucherov also being out with injuries.
Bishop is 9-10-2 on the year with a 90% save rate and 555 total saves in 612 attempts.
