Brandon Belt Agrees to One-Year, $6.2 Million Contract to Avoid Arbitration

San Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt was scheduled to have his arbitration hearing with the Giants today, but at the last minute the two sides agreed to a $6.2 million contract for 2016.

Belt originally asked the for $7.5 million, and the Giants countered with $5.3 million. It was good to see that the Giants and Belt were able to agree on a compromise  that was $1.3 million less than what he wanted, and .9 more than the Giants were going to give him.

Belt, who will turn 28 in April, batted .280/.356/.478 with 18 home runs and 88 runs batted in over 137 games for the Giants in 2015. He figures to build on this season in 2016.
