A MVP is the player who is most valuable player on their respective team. When you hear MVP you automatically think of LeBron James and Kevin Durant. Yes, these are two obvious candidates, but who are the others? Let’s breakdown some of the best players in the game and see how they could win NBA MVP this season:

1: LeBron James

Team: Cleveland Cavaliers

Position: Small Forward

There is no doubt about LeBron being on this list. Every year he puts up an MVP like season and this year expect the same. With LeBron James being back with the Cavaliers he has more motivation then he ever as before. He will be looking to dethrone Kevin Durant the 2014 NBA MVP who is next on the list.

2: Kevin Durant

Team: Oklahoma City Thunder

Position: Small Forward

Kevin Durant enjoyed an MVP season last year which showed us one of the best streaks in NBA history as Durant put up an impressive steak of a bunch of 30 point-plus games in a row which included scoring 54 on the Golden State Warriors. KD will have ton of competition for his MVP award this season, let’s see if he can knock it off an win MVP again.

3: Anthony Davis

Team: New Orleans Pelicans

Position: Power Forward

Anthony Davis is just 21 years of age and has already won a gold medal in the 2014 FIBA World Cup and has been a defensive player of the year candidate. Davis has already received praise from former Head Coach at the University of Kentucky John Calipari. The Brow was the 1st pick in the 2012 Draft and averaged 20.8 points per game with 10 rebounds and 1.6 assists. Davis quietly had a fantastic season and should be considered for the award this year. In other words, look out NBA the Brow is coming.

4: Carmelo Anthony

Team: New York Knicks

Position: Small Forward

Carmelo Anthony is one of the best players in the league and should be a no doubt MVP candidate. Melo often gets overlooked for the fact he plays for the Knicks who most fans agree were terrible last season. If the Knicks didn’t have Melo, could you imagine their team without him? It would be terrible. Carmelo Anthony is one the best players in the game and it shows even with the Knicks terrible season last year. Look out for Melo to be motivated with a new contract and the fact he re-signed in the city he is from in New York.

5: Chris Paul

Team: Los Angeles Clippers

Position: Point Guard

Chris Paul has been overlooked for the NBA MVP a number of times in his career and sometimes you have to wonder, will CP3 ever win a MVP? He is one of the few players that could be on there for the MVP top 5 voting this season. Him and Blake Griffin form one of the best duos in the NBA that makes the Clippers such a dangerous team which is why CP3 needs more credit for what he does along with Blake Griffin. I truly expect to see CP3’s name around the MVP conversation this season.

6: Blake Griffin

Team: Los Angeles Clippers

Position: Power Forward

Since we just finished talking about his teammate Chris Paul, let’s discuss Blake Griffin. Griffin elevated his game last year after most people considered him to be just a player that could only dunk. BG has now made his case for one of the best in the league and hopefully he finds away to have an MVP like season so he gets more credit around the league. Blake Griffin is a dark horse pick for NBA MVP this year.

7: Stephen Curry

Team: Golden State Warriors

Position: Point Guard

Stephen Curry says he thinks he’s a better offensive player then LeBron James and that’s the mentality MVP caliber players should have. I truly think if Curry keeps up his high level of play he can be that mvp he can be the best offensive player and he can be the best point guard in the league.

8: Dwight Howard

Dwight Howard is one of the best centers in the game he’s already proven that with his outstanding defense that’s shown up in his defensive player of the year awards but what does he need to become an MVP? Just keeping play ay the level he is at and if the Rockets play with success at a high level D12 could win MVP.

9: Chris Bosh

Team: Miami Heat

Position: Power Froward/ Center

If Bosh went to the Houston Rockets we wouldn’t even be discussing this possibility. Chris Bosh dominated in Toronto as the number one option and now that he has that again in Miami it should be interesting to see how he preforms.

10: Russell Westbrook

Team: Oklahoma City Thunder

Position: Point Guard

This one maybe un-popular but its not impossible. While Kevin Durant is the Thunder’s best player Russell is still a MVP like player when KD isn’t on the court. So if something happens to KD Westbrook could become a MVP candidate.

Honorable mentions: Derrick Rose, Kobe Bryant, James Harden
