The Milwaukee Brewers were in a funk last September that cost them a playoff spot. The funk has carried onto the 2015 season for the Brew Crew, as their 7-18 start is the worst record in all of Major League Baseball. The bad start has cost Brewers manager Ron Roenicke his job now, according to MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy.

Brewers general manager Doug Melvin released the following statement on the firing of Ron Roenicke.

“This has been a difficult start to the season, something that we certainly didn’t anticipate,” Doug Melvin said . “Over roughly the last 100 games, we have not performed at the level that we should. It’s all about wins and losses, and after the first month of play this year we didn’t see the progress and improvement we had hoped for. We appreciate all that Ron has done for our organization, and he has handled his duties with great professionalism and dedication. The reasons for our disappointing start are many, but we determined that it’s in the best interests of the club to make this move.”

Ron Roenicke also spoke on losing his job.

“I feel as bad as anybody that last year happened and the beginning of this year, that I couldn’t get the guys going.”

“I feel like I did everything I could do, but it’s still the responsibility of the manager to get this thing right.”

Roenicke finished his tenure with the Brewers with a 343-331 record over four years with the club. The Brewers will announce their new manager tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. central standard time.
