The Milwaukee Brewers will place starting pitcher Junior Guerra on the 15-day disabled list tomorrow with elbow inflammation in his pitching arm that developed in his last start versus the San Diego Padres.
Wily Peralta will take Junior Guerra’s spot on the 25-man roster, and start in place of Guerra on Tuesday versus the Atlanta Braves.
Peralta, who was the Brewers opening day starter, was demoted to Triple-A Colorado Springs on June 12th. He made 10 starts for the Sky Sox, going 1-3 with a 6.31 earned run average. Milwaukee didn’t strongly consider anybody but Peralta to take Guerra’s spot on the active roster, although Taylor Jungmann was a possibility.
Guerra, 31, is 7-3 on the year with a 2.93 earned run average and 90 strikeouts over 107.1 innings of work. He and Zach Davies have helped stabilize a Brewers rotation that has been shaky all year.
