Browns Expected to Waive Johnny Manziel Today

We all knew that at some point Johnny Manziel wouldn’t be a member of the Cleveland Browns next season. The only thing we didn’t know was when his time to Cleveland would end.

Per Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland, today is expected to be the day where the Browns officially cut ties with Manziel for good.

The Browns traded up for Manziel in the 2014 NFL Draft to select him 22nd overall. Some mock drafts if you remember had the now 23-year-old quarterback going as early as top five in the draft, but Manziel was drafted by Cleveland after he texted then-Browns quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains that he wanted to “wreck the league.”

Manziel still has a lot of potential to live up to in the NFL as a former Heisman Trophy winner. He still has a lot of growing up to do on and off the field though, because his partying has ultimately ruined his professional football career to this point.

In two NFL seasons, Manziel has a total of 1,675 passing yards and eight total touchdowns with seven of them being passing touchdowns and the other one of course being a rushing touchdown.

  1. I guess it was about time they cut him. I know the talent is still tantalizing but I’m not sure why some teams are still interested in him at this point. He’s a train wreck right now and until he gets his life together teams should not be encouraging him. He’s so entertaining that I’ve been rooting for him but, for heaven’s sake, he might end up jail. Nevertheless, will be interesting to see where he ends up. Also, if you’ve got a few minutes, check out our blog’s question of the day about Johnny Manziel and tell me what you think cuz I’d love to hear your thoughts
