We all knew that at some point Johnny Manziel wouldn’t be a member of the Cleveland Browns next season. The only thing we didn’t know was when his time to Cleveland would end.
Per Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland, today is expected to be the day where the Browns officially cut ties with Manziel for good.
Stop when youve heard before … #Browns expected to release Johnny Manziel by close of day.

The Browns traded up for Manziel in the 2014 NFL Draft to select him 22nd overall. Some mock drafts if you remember had the now 23-year-old quarterback going as early as top five in the draft, but Manziel was drafted by Cleveland after he texted then-Browns quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains that he wanted to “wreck the league.”
Manziel still has a lot of potential to live up to in the NFL as a former Heisman Trophy winner. He still has a lot of growing up to do on and off the field though, because his partying has ultimately ruined his professional football career to this point.
In two NFL seasons, Manziel has a total of 1,675 passing yards and eight total touchdowns with seven of them being passing touchdowns and the other one of course being a rushing touchdown.
