Guard Sean Kilpatrick is once again joining a new NBA team.
The Chicago Bulls have signed Kilpatrick to a three-year, $6.2 million contract, per an official announcement from the team after the deal was first reported by Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports.
In-order to create room for Kilpatrick on the 15-man active roster, the Bulls waived forward C.J. Fair. Fair was just signed by Chicago just yesterday after waiving Jaylen Johnson. Fair is averaging 10.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 blocks for the Windy City Bulls of the NBA’s G-League this season.
For Kilpatrick, this will be the sixth team of his NBA career, and his fourth different one in 2017-2018. Kilpatrick began the year with the Brooklyn Nets, but was then waived on December 7. 11 days later, Kilpatrick inked a two-way contract with the Milwaukee Bucks, and then was signed to a one-year pact by the team in January. He was waived in February by Milwaukee to make way for Brandon Jennings, and then Kilpatrick signed a pair of ten-day deals with the Los Angeles Clippers before landing a three-year deal in Chicago.
The Boston Celtics were initially set to sign Kilpatrick to a ten-day deal before the Bulls swooped in with a much better offer. Boston instead decided to sign guard Xavier Silas following the news about Kilpatrick heading to Chicago.
Kilpatrick will earn a guaranteed $2.1 million from the Bulls for the remainder of the season, as the team elected to give their mid-level exception to the veteran scoring guard. The 28-year-old Kilpatrick is averaging 4.4 points and 1.4 rebounds in limited minutes this season, and holds career averages of 10.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game in 148 NBA games.
