Chicago Bulls guard Rajon Rondo has been suspended by the Bulls for one game for conduct detrimental to the team. Rondo will serve his one-game suspension tonight, when Chicago hosts the Portland Trail Blazers.
Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reports that Rondo and assistant coach Jim Boylen engaged in a “heated exchange” following the Bulls 107-82 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday without Dwyane Wade.
Rondo allegedly threw a towel attended in Boylen’s direction during the game, and then the incident ended up carrying over to the locker room after the game, per K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune.
On Sunday, Rondo apologized to the entire Bulls coaching staff and his teammates for the incident in-which he “took responsibility for it.” Jerian Grant will start in place of Rondo tonight.
The 30-year-old Rondo is averaging 8.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game this season.
