Arizona Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu is set to hit the free agent market after the 2016 NFL season, and with the season Tryann Mathieu had for the Cardinals in 2o15, many wondered if the team would open extension talks with Honey Badger.
According to James Palmer of NFL Network, the Cardinals and Mathieu are indeed discussing an extension:
Mathieu racked up 89 combined tackles with 80 of them being individual. Mathieu also had 5 interceptions and 17 pass deflections including one of those five interceptions being returned for a touchdown. He and Patrick Peterson formed quite the secondary in Arizona.
Mathieu has yet to play more than 14 games in his three-year NFL career, and he missed the Cardinals final four games due to a torn ACL. Despite his injuries, Mathieu for sure is worthy of a much needed payday.
