Celtics’ Sullinger Done for Year

Boston Celtics big man Jared Sullinger will miss the rest of the year after a stress fracture was revealed in his left foot.

The 22 year old first injured his foot in a February 11 matchup against the Hawks, which Boston won 88-87. He originally wasn’t expected to be out long, but was later diagnosed with a stress reaction after the All Star break.

Sullinger, drafted in the first round of the 2012 draft, was having a career year. He was averaging 14.4 ppg, 8.1 rpg and 2.4 apg. While the Celtics havent been having a spectacular year with their 20-32 record, they certainly have a bright future and Sullinger is at the center of it.

The Celtics are hoping Sullinger and other young prospects such as Kelly Olynyk and Marcus Smart will lead the team into contention in a few years. This is certainly a small setback in the development of a potential star player, but the Celtics will be hoping it remains minor.
