Chauncey Billups Retires From the NBA

After 17 seasons playing professional basketball at the highest level in the world, Chauncey Billups has decided to call it a career. Billups was a free agent this Summer after the Pistons declined his option in his contract that would have paid him 2.5 million next season. Billups was interested in playing with LeBron James next season with the Cleveland Cavaliers but after missing 185 games the last 3 seasons it probably was the best idea for him to hang it up. Billups spoke on his retirement:

“It’s just time. I know when it’s time,” Billups told Yahoo Sports. “My mind and my desire is still strong. I just can’t ignore the fact that I haven’t been healthy for three years. I can try again and get to a point where I think I can go, but I just can’t sustain. Me not being able to play the way that I can play, that’s when you kind of know it’s that time.
