Chicago Cubs Multi-Year Salaries

Below are the Chicago Cubs’ financial commitments through the 2022 MLB season. Outfielder Jason Heyward is currently Chicago’s highest paid player, with a eight-year, $184 million contract under his belt.

Payroll notes:

Blue – Designates that a player has a player option for that season

Purple – Designates that the team has a team option for that season

Red – Indicates that a player is eligible for one of the stages of salary arbitration

Orange – Indicates that a player is under team control for that particular season

Heyward is eligible to opt-out after the 2018 season if he so chooses to. If Heyward opts-in, which is currently expected right now, the rest of his contract becomes fully guaranteed with no more player/team options on the eight-year pact. He will have partial no-trade clause if he opts-in versus the full no-trade clause he currently has right now.
